PILATES METHOD
Pilates is a total body physical conditioning program designed by Joseph H. Pilates. The Pilates work is different from a basic conditioning program in that the primary goal is to strengthen and balance the body from the inside out, by integrating both the large and small muscle groups. The ultimate goal of the Pilates method is a uniformly developed body and mind. The benefits of the Pilates method are a centered and well-balanced body, elongated spine, flexible joints, increased stamina and heightened body awareness.
FLETCHER PILATES®
Combining the principles and precision techniques of the entire Pilates syllabus with his extensive modern dance background, Ron Fletcher was chosen by Clara Pilates, following the death of her husband, Joseph Pilates, to carry on the “Pilates” work and name. Fletcher Pilates® is an organic, flowing and artful series of movements – deeply engaging the body, mind and breath – that are as challenging to perform as they are satisfying to master. While staying true to Pilates’ origins, Fletcher developed such innovations as Fletcher Towelwork®, Fletcher Floorwork®, Percussive Breathing™, and unique pieces of movement on the full range of Pilates equipment.
